commission a piece

Jewellery commissioning is the process whereby a piece is created with design input from you, the client. You might simply want a variation on one of my existing designs, or it could be an idea that has been nurtured in your mind for a while. It is a lovely way of having something truly unique and special for yourself, or a loved one.

The process
Send me an email with your requirements and as much information as possible about what you are after. Sketches, photos etc are useful here, as is an idea of the deadline. Having a budget in mind will also help to tailor the final design to fit.

Once I have received your information, we can have a face-to-face meeting (preferred), or a phone conversation. This is followed up with a design proposal and an approximation of cost. The initial consultation is free of charge, and i shouldn’t last more than an hour.

Once a design has been agreed and signed off, we will provide a final quote and timescale.

Cost & payment
Each of my pieces is made by hand, from sheet metal or wire. As a result, a commissioned piece isn’t a more expensive process in terms of time and materials. An initial 1 hour consultation is free of charge. This should be sufficient to arrive at the desired design. Any more time required is charged at £45 an hour, at a minimum charge-out of 1 hour. I ask for a 50% deposit after sign-off to start the making process.

Still not sure?
